Jonathan Fink is Vice President for Research and Economic Affairs and Professor of Geological Sciences at Arizona State University. Prior to becoming Research VP in 1997, he served as Chair of Geology, ASU's most research-active department. He received a B.A. from Colby College in 1973, and a Ph.D. in Geology from Stanford University in 1979. A volcano specialist who studies eruptions on earth and other planets, Fink has spent most of his professional career at ASU. In his present position he oversees the research portfolio of all of ASU's campuses, and is responsible for research administration, strategic research initiatives, research publications, technology transfer, and economic development activities. He also coordinates all of ASU's Proposition 301 investments. In 2000 he represented ASU in the Arizona Partnership for the New Economy. |
