Call to Order

Chairman Ed Zito called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m.  .

 

Roll Call and Introductions

Ed Zito, Chairman, welcomed all members and reviewed organizational material for the Council.  The new web site www.gcit.az.gov, created for the Council, was presented. 

 

Meeting schedule was discussed and the following changes were made: Thursday, March 27th meeting in Tucson is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26th in Phoenix.  The Thursday, April 24th meeting will change from Phoenix to Tucson.  The Council will meet monthly for the first eight months.

 

Governor Napolitano welcomed the members of the Council and thanked them for devoting their time and energies to the advancement of innovation and technology.  The Governor spoke about the direction of the Council and would like to have a concrete action plan and economic development vision for the technology industry by year-end.

 

Guest Presentations

 

Dr. Walter Plosila gave his presentation on State Science and Technology Programs: Trends, Developments and Lessons Learned.

 

Mary Jo Waits gave her presentation on “Arizona Partnership for the New Economy and Five Shoes Waiting to Drop on Arizona’s Future.”  

 

Approval of Minutes

 

None.

 

Committee Reports

 

The committee chairs will report next meeting.

            Capital Formation – Quinn Williams

            Technology Development & Transfer – Nina Ossanna

            Technology Business Infrastructure – Pat Stoner

 

Next Council Meeting

 

The next Governor’s Council on Innovation and Technology meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. at 1700 West Washington Street, 2nd Floor Conference Room, Phoenix, Arizona.

Chairman Ed Zito adjourned the meeting at 6:00 p.m.
