| The Governor's Council on Innovation and Technology (GCIT), formed by executive order, consists of 32 members, each of whom is appointed by the Governor, and serves without compensation at the pleasure of the Governor. |

During the January 2006 meeting, the Council agreed on forming the following committees:
- Competitiveness Committee
- Innovation and Technology Funding Committee
- Communications Infrastructure Committee
- Marketing/Communication Committee
